Affordable Movers

4.1(974 reviews)·Brisbane

Affordable Movers takes on both local Brisbane jobs and long interstate runs, and the review pool shows a company capable of real care alongside recurring operational problems. Customers repeatedly praise specific crews - Joao and Pedro for an interstate Brisbane-to-Sydney move, Moses and Alex, and Alex and Brad, who handled a baby grand piano on a Canberra-to-Brisbane run - for wrapping furniture carefully and avoiding damage to walls. Jay was singled out for price-matching a competitor's quote at short notice. Set against this is a cluster of serious complaints: arrival times slipping by hours, a truck arriving undersized with furniture left on the lawn, disputed invoices, and at least one interstate delivery delayed for months, with reviewers describing difficulty reaching the office for updates. As a removalist in Brisbane, Affordable Movers holds a 4.1-star average from 974 Google reviews.

Job no. 11946 : My experience is not good. Load picked up 30 October from Albion. Told it couldn’t be delivered to Cairns till 24 November, then rescheduled to 18 October and told on 15 December it couldn’t be delivered till January. Hoping the new company I’ve engaged can successfully pick up my furniture from Affordables storage on Tuesday 23 December. It’s been a nightmare trying to organise this. The link to their website in email goes nowhere.

Absolute joke of a business. Read all the previous reviews! Booked them weeks in advance, took my deposit, “John” calls me the morning of my move to tell me they couldn’t make it. We had bond cleaners coming the following day and key return. Job no etc in photos. Totally appalling.

Be aware of some delays! Booked and confirmed at 11am they show up 8am , I told to come back 11am they show up 1 pm ! Terrible organization! On the other side the 2 guys they sent Max&Max were very good they done the job in 2 hours with no problem. Do I recommend ? No for the organization , if you have a schedule day get ready for be late! Yes for the workers! Total price for 2 bedroom and 2h work $490. Before booking make sure to ask and confirm the price

‘Hourly rate’ means you’ll get a very slow service. The removalists who helped us didn’t seem professional. We paid the moving fee with GST but they’re refusing to provide an invoice. We asked for one via text and the reply we got was ‘No’. What a shocking customer service. Please avoid this dodge business and get a proper service somewhere else!

Joao and Pedro were absolutely amazing! They made my interstate move from Brisbane to Sydney so smooth and stress-free. Super friendly, efficient and took great care of my furniture. Honestly the best removalists I've ever used. Highly recommend this moving company.

We needed movers short notice and these guys were great. Jay went the extra mile to help us out with a price match to a competitors quote. 2 guys and a 30cbm truck, they were quick but careful , really good to deal with. Took a huge stress off. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Job No 6237: Fortitude Valley - West End 12 April 2024 Disgusting company with appalling ownership. Receipt & booking number shown as the owner tends to claim reviews are not legitimate – but unfortunately this was our experience with this awful removal company: We booked for 09:30, Nathan & Thiago arrived at 10:30 and our job was able to commence – frustrating but not a big deal. Despite the Manager giving them a lift tutorial, Thiago inserted the fire service key, bringing the lift to a stand still. I had to retrieve the Manager who overwrote the system, and in the meantime Thiago was doing backflips and the splits in the lift lobby – not sure why but this was frustrating at a time when AM was making our move more stressful than it needed to be. The total time lost to the lift fiasco was 45 minutes - which Thiago admitted was his fault and told us if we called head office they would "sort it out". We noticed our possessions being quilt wrapped, rather than free shrink wrapping promised in the offer. We assumed this was to make up lost time and did not complain as we would have assumed a clean vehicle would be used, so did not make a fuss. We left our old flat at 12:30, which delayed the lift booking after us by around an hour. Regardless though, we were relieved as we assumed the most stressful part of our move was now over. When we arrived at our new flat, with the first load Thiago was pushing an unsupported & unwrapped trolley through the lobby of our new apartment that toppled over, with a timber bedside unit tumbling to the ground from 1.5m high. Amazingly it didn't shatter but was broken internally so it is no longer useable. It fell because it had a bag on top that was not supported, something i recognised as a hazard and would have expected an experienced mover to identify. Regardless again, we didnt complain as these things can happen. At this point i drove back to our old apartment to collect items in storage and my partner phoned me in tears explaining our stuff was ruined. She paid for the job as she did not feel comfortable challenging 2 large men on cost or quality. I got back and was appalled at what i was seeing. There was dirt, mould & limescale all over our possessions, majority of which are totally ruined. Our couch, armchair, rug & mattresses were wrecked, the carpets were also now damaged. I have attached photos which speak for themselves. The total cost to replace all our belongings was well over $2k+. At the end, Thiago was not wearing any shoes. Nathan said to my partner, "bet you're wondering why he isn't wearing shoes". Confused partner said yes, Nathan explained "Cos its a nice apartment, we used your fob to go up the rooftop pool and Diego dipped his toes in the water". Imagine the level of shock & anger felt by ourselves as paying customers that this was the professional service we had paid for, from 2 workers on the clock, trespassing on private land with a key given for work purposes only. We have CCTV and wanted to give AM the chance to rectify this situation with a full refund – which the owner Rahul – who claims his name is John for some reason - refused. After coming to terms with the trespassing and ruined property, i checked my invoice to discover we had been charged $826.40 for 4 hours of service, for a job that should have taken less than 3, and included time that was spent waiting on a lift disabled by AM, and time spent enjoying a dip in our pool. The invoice also notes a payment processing fee for $34.35 which was never explained to us. When i phoned and complained immediately, the owner asked us to send photos and said he would look into it. He offered a 30 min refund, which we calmly explained was nowhere near acceptable, so he became abusive and threatening. Screenshots attached – as judging by his character he will deny any accountability or claim we are lying. We are still livid. But given the time has passed and no reasonable rectification was proposed and AM have cut contact, the only step for us is to warn others about this horrible company.
