The Junk Removers & Pick Up Pros

The Junk Removers & Pick Up Pros is a family-run business operated by John and Leanne Cook. It has been operating since 2003, when John began collecting scrap metal as a hobby. In 2009, "The Scrap Metal Man" was officially registered. The business has served the Mid North Coast for more than 20 years and is based in Coffs Harbour. Its service area extends from Port Macquarie to Yamba, with East Coast runs to Sydney and Brisbane by arrangement.

Long-term loyal casual staff support the business. It holds $20M Public Liability Insurance, Goods in Transit Insurance, Workers' Compensation Insurance, and Vehicle & Business Insurance. It follows an Industry Code of Compliance and is associated with the Rubbish Removal Association. The truck is a 2020 Isuzu NNR 150 Pantech named Merlin, fully enclosed with a 600kg tailgate lifter and a height of 3.10 metres.

The team uses dollies, roller boards, straps, blankets, ramps, and proper PPE. Afterpay is offered through Square. The business serves real estate, legal, aged care, NDIS, and commercial clients. It handles rubbish removal, estate clearances, property cleanouts, and commercial work. The Pick Up Pros side manages bulky pickups, IKEA delivery, major retailer collections, Marketplace and Gumtree deliveries, and Sydney-to-Brisbane transport runs.

Junk removal, furniture and green waste clearance, short-notice pick-ups and delivery work form the core of what this Coffs Harbour operation handles. Various customers describe the service as efficient and well organised, with jobs finished in a fraction of the time they expected. Reliability and punctuality come up repeatedly, from a rural long-distance pick-up through to a same-day request fitted into a tight schedule. John is named often, and his assistant Emilio also earns praise for the pace they set together.

Clear communication stands out: customers note that arrangements were easy to discuss, that payment was straightforward, and that fragile IKEA items were packed and transported without damage after a Click and Collect purchase. Reviewers also value the care taken with awkward jobs, including a spa removal that other operators had declined. House clearances after a bereavement are handled with understanding, with items sorted for donation or proper disposal, and a complex Brisbane delivery was made to look simple. Affordability and flexibility are mentioned alongside the willingness to work around travel schedules and take on household clutter and garden debris.
